LA DESCENTE DE L'AMOUR
The descent of love is such a playful little phrase. For me it cleverly describes not only falling in love but out as well. Love can descend upon someone thus rendering them "in love" or someone can descend from love, out of love. These photographs depict three stages of falling in/out of love. The first here being Blindness" border="0" align="left"/>

One thing I remember most about my grandmother’s house was the smell of lilacs that drifted through the summer air and settled in the rooms of the house. I remember also the bustle of life that filled the dwelling, my cousins, my brother and I, playing games as infants and seeking refuge as adolescents. Each of us taking turns accommodating different rooms in the house, specifically I remember the room painted lilac. The one my cousin stayed in when she attended college. The one I cried in, played in, and the one I see now as empty. My cousins and I have grown and become independent as children do, and the rooms now sit under the quiet and preserving hand of my grandmother. These images reflect my memories of these rooms as places of comfort, while also representing the sadness of seeing them so still. It is as if they await life to re-enter them, or as if they are silently accepting their demise. RICH/POOR
This is a book idea conceptualized by a designer friend Sarah Dugan. She wanted to create a book about materialism, while breaking down stereotypes surrounding people who have and those who have not . Her primary exploration on this topic was with homeless people living in the Drop In Center, in Calgary Alberta. She approached me to help her take portraits for supporting content, and together we interviewed clients at the center about their most prized possessions. The result is this self published book I am Rich and I am Poor , it is a collection of portraits and quotes from the people we met sharing a little bit of wisdom on the true value of things." border="0" align="left"/>

DARKEST BEFORE THE DAWN
It’s darkest before the dawn, this simple and common idiom sparked a series of questions in my mind. First is it really darkest before the dawn? Who would know? Perhaps literally and figuratively speaking, an insomniac would. With the help of kijiji, I found insomniacs who volunteered to document a sleepless night, or their darkest hours with a disposable film camera. The result is a photographic exploration of insomnia which provides insight into the frustration, boredom, and even activity of a night spent awake. My relationship with insomnia has been around my entire life. Since I was a kid I have had trouble sleeping. Doctors have prescribed things before, but they either don't work, are highly addictive, make you feel like crap, or a combination of those things. My switch to vegetarianism helped for a while, but now it seems my insomnia is back full force these days." border="0" align="left"/>

HOTEL GHOSTS
Hotels have always struck me as slightly eerie. Regardless of the prestige of the accommodations I cannot shake my curiosities about hotel rooms. I always wonder who the visitors before me could have been, and why they were there. With a universal room key and a disposable camera I explored hotel rooms recently abandoned by their guests. I wondered if the imagery of unkept rooms could provide insight into the identity of the guests or the reasons for their stays. Amongst the unmade beds and flickering televisions; the remnants of guests, I began to feel like hotel guests were ghosts. Coming and going, leaving little clues of their being there, but not enough to reveal who they were, or why they were there." border="0" align="left"/>
